Initially, the assemblies will offer Siemens connectors, and these will be followed later by seven other makes. The range will cover cable diameters from 1.5–10mm2 and plug sizes from M15–58. Users will be offered a choice of three performance classes.
Lapp is using a newly-developed automated process to remove the cable shielding and to spread it through 360 degrees to create an all-round contact that, it claims, results in measurably better electromagnetic shielding than previous techniques.
Lapp says that the new servo cable production process is a response to the “plug and produce” trend in manufacturing. It will allow users to choose the best assembly for any application.
