Globalspec portal is reborn as IHS Engineering360

IHS, the market analysis giant which bought the Globalspec Web portal for $135m in 2012, has relaunched the site as IHS Engineering360, describing it as “the world’s largest online destination for engineers”.

The site offers editorial content, analysis and insights; product research and tools; an interactive community; and other information for engineers and technical professionals across a wide range of industries and disciplines.

“At IHS, we know engineers pretty well: we have been addressing their needs for detailed engineering and technical information for more than 50 years,” says Don Lesem, IHS’ vice-president for digital media and engineering insight. “IHS Engineering360 helps engineers keep current on rapidly-changing technologies and ever-changing market needs, all from a trusted source.”

The main components of IHS Engineering360 include:

•  a news and analysis section;

•  product research and discovery tools that allow engineers and other visitors to search millions of products by specification;

•  an up-to-date library of standards;

•  reference material from books, journals and articles, including examples, programs, software and tools; and

•  access to an interactive online community of engineers and technical professionals worldwide.

The site is said to cover the entire engineering landscape, with key areas of focus including automation and control, electronics, energy and natural resources, general engineering, manufacturing, materials, network and computing and process equipment.
