All-in-one starter eliminates wiring

A Slovenian company has developed a one-piece star-delta starter that does away with the laborious wiring of three separate sets of contactors and relays.

The Vitalner Corporation claims that its Slocon KZT starter is easier to install, smaller, lighter and more reliable than conventional starters. The only connections needed are three supply lines into the starter`s input terminals and three lines from its output terminals to an asynchronous three-phase motor.

The user can set the switching time from star to delta and switching takes place internally. There are several models available, capable of carrying currents up to 85A to control motors rated up to 40kW.
