Push-in terminal blocks need `50% less force`

20 April, 2009

At the Hannover Fair, Phoenix Contact unveiled a range of modular terminal blocks which allow tool-free connections to be made simply by inserting a ferrule-ended wire with a cross-section of 0.34–4mm2 into the sprung connectors.

As soon as the wire is inserted, with a force said to be up to 50% lower than previously possible, the contact springs on the PIT (push-in technology) connectors open and then close to hold it securely. To release the wire, an orange button is pressed using a screwdriver or other pointed implement.
