Over-moulded connectors resist contamination

Binder has equipped the straight versions of its 709 and 719 snap-in series connectors with a new over-moulding that supports single-handed mating and un-mating, and improves resistance to contamination. The connectors with snap-in locking are characterised by high retention forces for their size, but can still be mated and unmated quickly.

It is often important to protect devices and their interfaces against contamination. The triangular over-moulding design has no gaps, grooves or undercuts where dirt could accumulate. The straight variants are easy to handle thanks to a new type of over-moulding, making one-handed mating and un-mating safe and comfortable.

In developing the new over-moulding, the designers have maintained the properties of the previous version. Kink protection ensures that the strands do not break under mechanical stress when the cable kinks.

The 709 and 719 snap-in series connectors are available as male and female cable connectors, with or without strain relief. The three- to five-pole connectors are designed for wire gauges up to 0.25 mm2 and soldering or dip soldering termination. The IP40-protected products have mechanical lifespans of 100 or more mating cycles.
