Rotamec buys Nottingham Electrical Transmissions
Published:  17 April, 2024

The Somerset-based electromechanical services provider, Rotamec Engineering Solutions, has acquired the gearbox repairs specialist Nottingham Electrical Transmissions (NET), for an undisclosed sum. Rotamec describes this as “a pivotal moment” in its strategy to extend its reach and refine it service offerings.

It adds that the addition of NET aligns with its vision of establishing a network of branches. The integration “promises more efficient and prompt services” for customers across the UK.

Rotamec plans to raise NET’s operational standards by adopting ISO9001:2015. It will invest in NET’s infrastructure, aiming to drive growth and create new jobs.

NET was founded by Dennis Whatley in 1971. It initially served Nottingham's lace industry with three staff members. It has since moved twice to larger premises, and expanded its team.

Rotamec, founded in May 2000 as a motor rewind and repair business, has grown from two employees to 64, working in Cheddar, Exeter and South Wales. In 2021, it acquired the Leicester-based motor rewind and repair specialist, Covelec. It now offers services for wider power transmission applications, and specialises in the repair and sourcing of pumps, motors, gearboxes, generators and power transmission components.
