Cairns follows Payne to lead Mitsubishi UK automation division
Published:  24 October, 2023

Mitsubishi Electric has appointed Mike Cairns as director of its UK Automation Systems Division (ASD), following the retirement of the previous director, Roger Payne, after a 37-year career with Mitsubishi.

Cairns will be responsible for the entire UK operation, including sales, technical support, marketing, product management and aftersales. He will also be responsible for the Mitsubishi Electric’s Wave hand dryers.

Before joining Mitsubishi, Cairns was commercial director of Proactive Analytics, and before that was EMEA sales director and a board member at Ishida Europe. Earlier in his career, he spent more than ten years at SPX Flow where his roles included being sales director for Europe and for EMEA indirect channels. He was also a corporate account manager at Rockwell Automation for 12 years.

“I am delighted to be part of the continuing Mitsubishi Electric journey in the UK,” Cairns says. “Passionate about deriving customer value, I see a strong brand and a highly regarded portfolio of products which provide a solid base to help UK industry find the solutions to the many challenges it faces.

“I am grateful to Roger as we manage this transitionary period and I look forward to getting to know the wider team as we build our brand in the UK and take Mitsubishi Electric to the next level.”
