Published:  12 September, 2023

Mitsubishi Electric has announced a compact PLC for implementing cost-effective machines with up to 60 I/O points. The Melsec FX5S PLC offers Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) functions for entry-level automation applications in sectors such as food and beverage, water and machining,

The PLC is part of Mitsubishi’s Melsec iQ-F series of compact, high-performance PLCs. It is said to be easy to configure and use, streamlining deployment and allowing users to set up installations quickly. It also delivers high-speed performance for accurate positioning applications.

The built-in IIoT support reduces the investment needed to digitalise operations. It offers datalogging and data flow analysis functions to speed up and enhance troubleshooting and root cause analysis.

A built-in Web server allows operators to access these functions and to monitor operations remotely.
