Applied Automation signs up to sell cobot screwdriving tools

Plymouth, UK based Applied Automation has signed a sole UK distribution agreement with the Danish collaborative robotics specialist, Spin Robotics, to sell its easy-to-use end-of-arm screwdriving tools for cobot-based assembly applications. Spin’s products will be added to Applied Automation’s industrial automation products supported and sold through its technical distribution division in Cardiff.

“The projected growth of collaborative robots is set to surge and a major benefit for companies is their ROI efficiency,” says Applied Automation MD, David Rowe. “Adding a screwdriving system fits really well with our existing collaborative and industrial robot portfolio offerings. Assembly applications, within intelligent manufacturing environments, where both employees and machines share tasks will be key to boosting productivity, value and job satisfaction in the future.”

Founded in 2019, Spin Robotics has received major investment and backing from REInvest Robotics, the investment business founded by Universal Robots’ co-founder, Esben Hallundboek Ostergaard.

“Over the years, I have visited many manufacturing companies throughout the world and have often seen the need to automate one-sided repetitive assembly work, including screwdriving tasks,” says Ostergaard. “Spin Robotics have developed the right solutions for this, by achieving increased quality and less wear-and-tear on the assembly worker in a way that is both safe and flexible.”

Headquartered in Denmark’s robotics capital Odense, Spin Robotics has signed up more than 33 new distributors across Europe in five months, and is looking to expand in North America and Asia. Kristoffer Hansen, Spin Robotics’ chief sales officer, reports that “we are seeing a high demand for our product in the UK market”.
