“Elmleigh offers complete end-to-end services for the integration of electrical and mechanical automation systems and has long-standing customer relationships,” says Leadec CEO, Markus Glaser-Gallion. “With our subsidiary Diversified Automation, we already have a strong footprint in the parcel distribution sector in the US. Elmleigh will complement it in Europe and also bring its expertise for the food and beverage industry – two growth markets in which we want to expand strategically.”
Elmleigh was founded in 1984 as an electrical contractor based in the Leicestershire town of Earl Shilton. It quickly developed a reputation as an automation specialist, designing and integrating electrical systems for a snack-foods manufacturer in Leicester. Since then, the business has developed across other food processing sectors and into parcel sortation, and offers services including electrical and mechanical installation, control panel assembly, project management, design, software and Atex installation.
Elmleigh now employs more than 50 people, supported by more than 120 contractors, and has completed more 7,600 projects for customers including Amazon, Walkers, FedEx, DS Smith, Pepsico, TNT, Dematic, Baker Perkins, Arla and KP. Elmleigh recently moved from its previous site in Barwell to new premises in Hinckley, Leicester.
“In Leadec, we have found a strong partner to help us achieve our further expansion plans for Elmleigh,” says managing director, Simon Sliwinski, who will lead the integration and continue to manage the business. “In particular, the strong international footprint offers new opportunities to expand our business outside of the UK.

For 60 years, Stuttgart-based Leadec has been supporting customers along the entire production supply chain. It employs about 20,000 people worldwide, located at more than 300 sites, often on customers’ premises. In 2021 Leadec earned sales worth around €940m. It already employs around 2,000 people in the UK, where it has been operating since 1999.
