Samotics’ AI-driven Sam4 technology, based on electrical signature analysis (ESA), does not need field-mounted sensors to monitor motor-driven industrial equipment, and can be deployed on machines located in harsh and submerged environments. The scalable system is already used in the water, steel, and chemical sectors, with thousands of assets being monitored.
The technology is said to be complementary to ABB’s existing sensor-based Ability condition-monitoring service that analyses the health and performance of rotating equipment. The companies plan to combine their capabilities to deliver more insights into machine health and energy efficiency.
Ultimately, they hope to develop a system that uses both sets of data to provide industrial users with more detailed views of the health of their assets, allowing them to make better decisions to optimise maintenance, improve reliability and cut downtime.
