According to the report, no final decisions have been made yet on the sale of the business which could form part of Schneider’s plan to sell off operations that it regards as being non-core, allowing it to invest more into areas that will help its customers to move towards digitalisation.
The Telemecanique brand dates back to 1924, when it sold the first bar contactor. Schneider acquired the company in 1988 and used the brand for products such as PLCs, variable-speed drives, contactors, busbar trunking, sensors, switches, signalling devices and software.
In 2009, Schneider Electric migrated the Telemecanique products and services to its own brand as part of its automation and controls portfolio.
