Cloud-based apps give real-time insights into IIoT equipment
Published:  12 June, 2019

At the 2019 Hannover Fair, Schneider Electric announced seven new cloud-based apps for industry, smart buildings, data centres and energy grids, as part of its EcoStruxure platform. The Advisor apps and services provide visibility for connected products, while delivering analytics to drive efficiency. They include:

•  The Equipment Efficiency Advisor, which profiles and measures persistent and hidden losses in manufacturing environments. It collects, measures, analyses and reports on, operational performance, availability, quality and OEE, while performing root cause analyses. The app includes a Lean Manufacturing tool for performance management, and real-time KPIs for machines and production lines. It is claimed to deliver OEE performance improvements of 5–10% within 3-4 weeks, with paybacks in nine months.

•  The Pumping Performance Advisor, which increases asset lifespans and efficiencies at pumping stations, and is claimed to achieve up to 15% savings on operating costs, improved asset performance, and optimised energy efficiency. The app assesses maintenance costs, predicts faults and offers recommendations.

•  The EcoStruxure Power Advisor, which combines expert advice with advanced algorithms to identify gaps or issues in power management systems, as well as power quality issues in distribution systems. It allows users to track and analyse equipment conditions, manage electrical capacity and get advanced warnings remotely. It offers real-time information on data quality as well as summaries and trend analyses of the health of electrical networks.

Other Schneider EcoStruxure apps include a Process Safety Advisor and a Clean-In-Place Advisor which is said to help food and beverage manufacturers to cut costs.
