Smart TV operating system will be applied to robots
Published:  17 September, 2018

The webOS operating system developed by South Korea's LG Electronics and used in more than 60 million of its smart TVs and digital displays, is going to be applied to other fields, including robotics, under a new partnership that LG has formed with the IT service provider, Luxoft.

Luxoft will lead the deployment of webOS and its cloud services platform into the new sectors, beginning with the automotive industry, and later the robotics and smart home sectors.

“Luxoft is providing a substantial technological contribution to webOS and has also greatly enhanced our ability to deploy it into new industries,” says LG’s chief technology officer, IP Park.

“Underlying this partnership is a shared desire to make it easier for manufacturers to innovate with technology,” adds Luxsoft president and CEO, Dmitry Loschinin. “This platform gives them the flexibility to make digital changes. This will help accelerate the mobility revolution, improve human-robotic interactions and make smart devices even smarter.”
