JC-Electronics acquires UK-US spares supplier, Dax
Published:  02 July, 2018

JC-Electronics, a Dutch company that specialises in refurbishing industrial electronics, has acquired Dax Automation, the UK-based supplier of new, refurbished and obsolete industrial automation electronics, which also has an operation the US. The financial terms of the deal have not been released.

Dax, whose headquarters are in Cannock, Staffordshire, supplies hundreds of thousands of automation parts from more than 800 manufacturers, including Siemens, Rockwell Automation, GE Fanuc, Mitsubishi, Omron and Schneider Electric. It also offers a repairs service.

The acquisition gives JC-Electronics a business in the UK and the US for the first time. The fast-growing company has the ambition to become the supplier of choice in its target markets. It already supplies industrial automation spares in more than 100 countries, and has partnerships in Italy, Spain and Poland.

JC-Electronics was started in an attic in the Netherlands in 2006 by Jannes Cruiming and Gerard Katje. After a year, it moved to a larger building on an industrial property with five more employees. It has expanded several times since then, most recently in 2017. It currently employs more than 200 people and stocks more than 400,000 items.

Gerben Katje, JC-Electronics’ commercial director, says that Dax “will provide an extra dimension to JC-Electronics”, both in terms of boosting its presence in the UK and the US, and expanding its product range. “There has been a close relationship between JC-Electronics and Dax since Dax was founded, so we expect a quick integration of the business and its teams.”

“We have seen that the connected worldwide economy has provided a positive effect on our business year after year,” adds group director, Jannes Cruiming. “Our focus on refurbishing defective or obsolete automation electronics has provided a cost-effective solution for our customers who may then gain greater longevity from their existing automation systems. We believe that what has worked before, can work again. This economically and environmentally attractive solution has created extensive international attention and demand and will remain a core offering of JC-Electronics.”
