Jones leads drive to boost CT and Leroy-Somer in the UK
Published:  18 October, 2017

Gareth Jones, previously global vice-president of strategic marketing for Control Techniques, has been appointed UK and Ireland country leader of the ACIM (appliance, commercial and industrial motors) operation of CT’s new parent, Nidec. He will focus on expanding Control Techniques, Leroy-Somer and Nidec’s automation businesses in the UK and Ireland.

Jones, who has been with CT for more than 20 years, says that “with the divestiture [from Emerson] now completed, the business is ready to deliver on its plans. Nidec has made it clear it is willing to invest, and is following through on its promises”.

The company is planning to take on extra staff to expand its UK operation. “The UK is our home market, we are committed to growth and have identified clear opportunities,” says Jones. “Our flagship drive family, Unidrive M, is designed and manufactured in the UK and is gaining a growing following for its capabilities and performance. We also have important new products on the horizon as we head towards 2018.”

Jones: committed to growth

Jones is confident the UK businesses are well placed to succeed despite uncertainties over Brexit. “Nidec believes in the UK,” he says. “Everything is in place for us to achieve our potential and we are excited to deliver on that promise.”
