Zettlex and Saco win Queen’s innovation awards
Published:  08 May, 2017

The Cambridge-based sensor-maker Zettlex has won one of 57 innovation awards in this year’s Queen’s Awards for Enterprise for its range of accurate position and speed sensors for use in harsh environments. Other winners of innovation awards include Saco (the Smart Actuator Company), located in Malvern Wells, for its high-efficiency, programmable electric actuators, and Bristol-based Third Dimension, for its laser-based GapGun optical measurement device used to control production quality.

One of this year’s 102 Queen’s Awards in the enterprise category has gone to Mark Roberts Motion Control, based in Blindley Heath, which designs and manufactures robotic motion controls, specialising in control systems for photography and filming.

Zettlex’s award comes as the company moves to a new technology centre in Foxton, Cambridge, which will allow it to double its production and create jobs. Nearly 90% of the company’s sales come from exports and managing director Mark Howard reports that sales in the first quarter of 2017 were its highest ever. “We expect to grow at more than 30% this year, for the fifth year in a row,” he says.
