It offers open-source Linux-based programmability and 2G, 3G and LTE connections to manage any type of machine. Entire fleets of the gateways can be monitored, managed and controlled remotely through Sierra’s AirVantage Cloud Services.
“The FX30 provides a flexible, secure platform to connect machines to the Internet of Things,” says Jason Krause, Sierra’s senior vice-president and general manager for enterprise solutions. “For example, equipment manufacturers can quickly add IoT connectivity to any solution and deploy custom applications to monitor machine performance at the edge, sending data and alerts to any remote service application.”
The FX30 is available in Ethernet and serial variants, and supports an IoT Connector, allowing hardware extensions to interface with sensors, and wired and wireless networks. It consumes less than 1W in idle mode and 2mW in ultra-low power mode. Security features include support for the Lightweight M2M protocol and pre-shared key encryption.
