Vibratory bowls join the Industry 4.0 revolution
Published:  02 August, 2016

The German production equipment specialist Deprag has announced a new vibratory bowl feeder which, it claims, uses about 80% less energy then rival products and is “Industry 4.0-capable”.

The Deprag eacy (efficient assembly communication yield) spiral feeder reduces energy consumption by using an oscillating magnet system that operates from 24V supplies. It is thus independent of the local mains supply and can be used anywhere in the world.

The Industry 4.0 compatibility comes from an optional controller that supports TCP/IP communications and allows the feeder’s settings – such as frequency and amplitude – to be viewed and adjusted remotely from a smartphone. Software is also available that allows the parameters to be set from a remote touchscreen.

A transducer monitors the bowl's oscillation amplitudes, thus sensing how full it is and adjusting its parameters accordingly. Feed rates can be adjusted using 12 different waveforms. Vibration amplitudes and frequencies can be set to optimise feed volumes or noise levels.

The feeder can be programmed to adapt to the working speed of individual operators. The parameters for up to ten operators can be programmed and recalled when there is a change of shift.
