Compact, new-generation VSDs are easy to set up and run
Published:  04 January, 2016

At the recent SPS IPC Drives exhibition in Germany, Yaskawa unveiled the first model in a new generation of frequency inverters, claiming that it is among the smallest on the market, as well as being easy to set up and operate. The GA77 drives, available in ratings up to 630kW, can be used to control asynchronous, permanent magnet, or synchronous reluctance motors, without needing auto-tuning.

A new control panel with a simplified user interface provides interactive, dialogue-guided start-ups, allowing the drives to be commissioned quickly, without expert knowledge. Yaskawa is also offering PC tools, smartphone apps and cloud-based services for parameter management and back-up.

The IP20-protected drives occupy up to 40% less space than their predecessors and can operate side-by-side without gaps. They have built-in EMC filters and include SIL3-compliant STO inputs.
