Goodwin moves from B&R Automation to Weidmüller
Published:  11 December, 2015

Simon Goodwin, general manager of B&R Automation in the UK for almost ten years, has been appointed managing director of Weidmüller in the UK and Ireland. He will be responsible for developing and driving the business, providing strategic leadership, and overseeing the company’s activities in the UK and Ireland.

“I am looking forward to working with the experienced teams at Weidmüller to develop business in the fields of industrial automation and solutions, factory automation and device manufacturing,” says Goodwin.

Before becoming general manager of B&R in 2006, Goodwin worked at Omron Electronics, IMO and Marconi.

The Weidmüller Group, which specialises in connection technologies for power, signals and data, employs 4,800 people worldwide and has operations in more than 80 countries. In its 2014 fiscal year, its global sales were worth €673m.

Goodwin: significant new product ranges in 2016

•  One of Simon Goodwin’s first actions as MD of Weidmüller has been to book a stand at the 2016 Drives & Controls Show – the company’s first appearance at the event for many years. “We have some significant new product ranges which we will be launching in 2016,” says Goodwin, “and our return to the Drives and Controls Show is a statement of our intent to further develop our presence in these markets.”
