Online power transmission shop makes its debut
Published:  09 June, 2015

A new Web-based business has been set up to sell power transmission products in the UK and Ireland. Ipswich-based Drive Parts Direct is the brainchild of Nigel Rose who has more than 30 years of experience in the sector, initially with Pix Europe, and later at Distag QCS.

Rose has teamed up with SteigenTech, the European operation of a Chinese rubber products manufacturer whose main factory is claimed to be the world’s largest rubber belt plant under one roof. SteigenTech’s range includes wedge belts, multi-rib belts and timing belts. It also produces rubber sheeting and matting.

As well as the SteigenTech products, Drive Parts Direct will sell other power transmission products, including Diamond Sapphire chain. The emphasis will be on value-for-money. Its Web site’s front pages are aimed at end-users, but there is a dedicated log-in area where trade users can buy at lower prices.

Rose: keeping costs low

“The whole concept is based around keeping costs and administration to a minimum,” says Rose. “Whilst I am delighted to talk to my customers if they need technical help, all orders are placed through the Web portal. There are no plans for a telephone sales team.”
