Fan technology specialist opens EC motor plant
Published:  21 November, 2014

The fan technology manufacturer Torin-Sifan has opened a centre of excellence dedicated to designing, developing and producing high-efficiency EC (electronically commutated) motors and fans. The company has created 25 new jobs at the 2,320m2 (25,000ft2) facility, mainly in advanced and applications engineering for its EC products.

The new facility, in Swindon's Pagoda Park, is intended to satisfy the growing demand for EC technology, driven by legislation aimed at reducing the energy consumption of building products. The site provides the manufacturing capacity needed to satisfy future demand for the quiet, controllable EC products.

“With demand for our EC products at record levels, we are delighted to be able open this new, world-class manufacturing facility here in Swindon,” says Torin-Sifan’s commercial director, Paul Kilburn. “We firmly believe that the significant investment in our infrastructure and capability will enhance our position as a key technological partner within the European HVAC markets we serve.”

Torin-Sifan, which is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year, will continue to manufacture traditional AC-motor-based-technologies at its headquarters site, also in Swindon. The company sells more than a million products every year.
