Fixed-price service will repair VSDs, whatever their state
Published:  01 July, 2014

Schneider Electric has introduced a fixed-price repair service for variable speed drives (VSDs) in the UK, offering users a choice of standard, express or “no fault found” services. The fixed-price services mean that VSD users will know all of the costs involved before sending their products for repair, rather than having to wait for a quote. The prices will be fixed regardless of the condition of the failed drive – something that Schneider claims is unique in the industry.

The work will be done at its Telford-based Green Plant facility, the only approved repair centre for Schneider VSDs in the UK. The site offers repairs for Schneider’s ATV 61 and 71 drives with ratings from 11–90kW.

For the standard service, the turnaround time is up to ten working days. An express service is available for emergency repairs with the drives being returned within three working days, provided they are received in Telford before noon. The drives are either repaired or exchanged for a service replacement item.

If no fault is found when a VSD is tested and inspected, the drive will be serviced and its fans changed (if applicable). This constitutes the “no fault found” service.

The repaired drives come with a two-year warranty. Reports about the drive failure are available on request, but may cost extra.

Schneider says that its fixed-price repair service will accept drives in any condition

For critical applications, a loan service is available, providing a replacement drive to help minimise downtime while the original VSD is being repaired. This loan service can also be used for application trials, allowing users to assess the possible cost savings of switching to an energy-saving VSD.

The fixed-price services are available either directly from Schneider or via its distributors.
