Siemens appoints Jürgen Maier as its new UK CEO

Jürgen Maier has been appointed chief executive officer of Siemens in the UK with effect from July 1, 2014, succeeding Roland Aurich who is retiring from Siemens after working for the company for more than 28 years. Maier is currently a member of the Siemens UK executive management board, and managing director of Siemens Industry in the UK.

Maier was born in Germany with Austrian nationality in 1964, and came to the UK in 1974. He has held various positions at Siemens over the past 28 years. In addition to the UK, he is responsible for Ireland, Nigeria and Ghana.

Maier has a BSc in production engineering from Nottingham Trent University, and is honorary professor at the University of Manchester Faculty of Engineering.

Maier’s roles at Siemens have included being general manager of Low Voltage Products, Automation and Drives in the UK, and director of sales for Automation and Drives in Germany. In 2006, he was appointed MD for Automation and Drives in the UK.
