The PLCs are supplied with free software that Unitronics claims can halve programming time by predicting programmer’s intentions and reusing code. Programmers can build libraries of user-defined function blocks and HMI screens that they can then import into new projects or share with others.
The UniLogic software’s predictions are said to save time on definitions of I/O points, PIDs and so on. Programming is made quick and easy by the use of drag-and-drop functions, automatic line creation and the re-use of existing code.
Unitronics also offers an expanding library of PLC embedded apps, called UniApps, that can access, edit, monitor, troubleshoot and debug data. The PLCs can also be accessed remotely from PCs and smartphones.
The Unistream PLCs support RS-485, CANopen, UniCAN and Modbus communications (serial and Ethernet). They can also adapt to third-party protocols. Their built-in USB and serial ports support external devices such as modems, printers and barcode readers.
Unitronics says that the new PLCs will give OEMs and systems integrators a competitive edge by cutting their costs, saving space and reducing programming times.
