High-efficiency PM motors are `first` to be available ex-stock
Published:  12 October, 2012

The Italian electric motor manufacturer Lafert claims that it is the first European motor producer to offer high-efficiency permanent magnet (PM) motors from stock. It is holding supplies of its IEC-frame HPS motors ready for despatch at short notice from its premises in Lyon, France, in ratings from 1.1–18.5kW at 1,800 rpm, and up to 5.5kW at 3,600 rpm.

Following joint development work by Lafert and Danfoss Drives, the two companies have recognised each other as preferred partners for PM motors for HVAC applications. Danfoss will match the Lafert’s short motor delivery times with compatible drives. Lafert will also provide high-efficiency motors for Danfoss’ EC+ HVAC drive programme.

Lafert’s HPS motors (above) are designed for use by OEMs and in retrofit energy-saving projects. They make use of the company’s expertise in PM servo and AC motor technologies, and deliver efficiencies that meet the proposed IE4 criteria. Their high efficiencies can halve motors weights and allow the use of smaller frame sizes.

The full PM motor range extends up to 30kW. The motors can be engineered to match specific application requirements – more than 90% of Lafert’s production is non-standard.
