HMK rescues Jacksons and aims to double its turnover to £5m
Published:  13 October, 2012

The Congleton-based automation specialist HMK has acquired the Stoke-on-Trent mechanical supplier Jackson Power Transmission from administration and is aiming to more than double the size of the business within three years.

Jackson was placed into administration in September following creditor pressure and cashflow issues. The company was founded by Peter Jackson in 1987 to provide custom mechanical drive systems for plant and machinery users across the UK. It now also offers additional services, including gearbox repair and refurbishment, and customised transmission system design and building.

The acquired business, renamed JPT Mechanical Drives, will continue to trade from the same premises initially, using the existing trading name and team. “We’re pleased to be able to preserve all jobs at Jackson’s site in Stoke-on-Trent and will be seeking to grow the business over the next 12 months as it becomes an integral part of the automation business within our group,” says HMK Automation Group CEO, Carl Krajewski.

“As a business, we’ve been seeking to enhance our mechanical power transmission product offering for some time, and Jacksons provided us with the ideal opportunity to complement our existing products and services,” he continues.

Krajewski is aiming to boost the turnover of the newly acquired business from £2m to £5m within three years. “We’re also aiming to relocate to larger premises within the area to provide greater capabilities for handling heavier gearboxes and motors and to develop an electromechanical projects business to provide our end-user customers with turnkey solutions,” he adds.
