Mach 2012 show could generate business worth £146m
Published:  11 October, 2012

The British Manufacturing Technologies Association (MTA) has announced that its Mach exhibition, held at the Birmingham National Exhibition Centre earlier this year, resulted in exhibitors taking orders worth around £50m during the show. It estimates that the total business attributable to the exhibition will be worth around £146m.

A survey of visitors at the show revealed that 42% of them either placed orders at the show or planned to do so as a result of visiting the exhibition.

During its five days, the show attracted more than 21,600 visitors – a 15% rise on the previous show in 2010. The 20,000m2 event was 17% larger than in 2010, and the 391 exhibitors represented a 10% increase on the 2010 show.

The 2012 Mach show marked the event’s centenary. To commemorate this milestone, the MTA has produced a book, titled Century of Innovation, which charts the exhibition’s history.

The next Mach show will take place from 7–11 April, 2014 and will have the theme, “innovation in action”. The 2014 Drives & Controls Show will take place at the same time.
