SCADA package will show plants in 3D
Published:  28 June, 2012

Mitsubishi Electric has announced plans to release an advanced SCADA (supervisory control and data acquisition) software package with 64-bit 3D graphics which will allow users to view plant system configurations in 360-degree perspectives.

The MC Works64 software, due for release in October 2012, will also contain a tool called MC AppBuilder that will allow users to set up and monitor plant systems and energy consumption with ease. The tool includes a database for filing and sorting graphics information such as symbols and faceplates, control programs such as PLC function blocks, and various communication interfaces.

It will also generate monitoring screens, PLC programs and OPC communication settings automatically. Mitsubishi predicts that the tool will lead to substantial reductions in engineering and system setup costs for system integrators.

“This concept will significantly reduce a user`s total cost of ownership, and will become the one-stop solution package in the social infrastructure market,” says Satoshi Matsushita, vice-president of Mitsubishi’s Factory Automation Systems Group and general manager of its overseas marketing division.

MC Works64 is an upgraded version of MC Works and will form part of Mitsubishi’s MELViz iQ PlantSuite integrated supervisory automation control and monitoring system that the company is developing to expand its business in the global social infrastructure market.
