Panel PCs offer 1.5 million permutations
Published:  07 June, 2012

Schneider Electric has launched a range of panel PCs that can be tailored to suit individual customer needs. In addition to off-the-shelf configurations, Schneider is also offering made-to-order models built to customer specifications. The many options mean that there are more than 1.5 million possible permutations of the Magelis panel PCs.

The PCs offer a choice of Optimised or High Performance models. They are designed for low maintenance, with fanless and diskless versions using flash drives being available as options. Another option is a redundant factory-fitted Raid hard disk with battery back-up to ensure high availability and security of data, along with controlled shutdowns.

The panel PCs (above) have IP65-protected touchscreens with LED backlights and offer data storage management, with dual Gigabit Ethernet ports for separate data flows and connections to PCs, databases and IT systems. Multi-tasking capabilities can be added to run software such as Schneider’s Vijeo Designer and Intelligent Data Service applications, Vijeo Citect Scada, office applications, Internet browsers and user-installed software.

There is choice of Microsoft operating systems, including Windows Embedded (write-protected to avoid any abnormal modification), XP Pro and Windows 7 – up to Ultimate 64-bit for large Scada applications demanding extra RAM size management.

Built-in diagnostics can provide early warnings of high temperatures in hazardous locations. The PCs have a wide operating temperature range and are resistant to vibration and shocks, ensuring uninterrupted operation in difficult environments.
