Valve island caters for differing flow rates

Pneumatic valves with different flow rates can be accommodated in the same electro-pneumatic distribution island using a technology developed by the Italian pneumatic specialist, Metalwork Pneumatic.

Brian Ingram, the company`s UK managing director, asserts that the development will redefine the levels of usability and flexibility of valve islands.

"Valve islands are a fairly new idea, and are still finding uses," he says. "Our new Multimatch will open up whole new fields to valve islands and lead to their next crucial stage - becoming the first choice for air distribution."

The blocks can be fitted with any combination of 4mm, 6mm and 8mm cartridges. The valves can be mounted or removed within seconds, allowing systems to be reconfigured as demands change. All of the inlets and outlets for the DIN-rail-mounting blocks face downwards, easing installation.

Until five years ago, Metalwork focused on pneumatic fittings, but has since widened its portfolio to include valves, actuators and related equipment. It is now the market-leader in Italy and, according to Ingram, "our goal is to achieve a similar position across Europe".
