Russian software models mechanical systems

AutoMechanics, a Moscow-based engineering software developer formed by former spacecraft engineers, has launched a Windows-based software package for mathematical modelling and simulation of multi-component mechanical systems.

The package, called Euler, provides dynamic analyses of mechanical systems without users having to apply motion equations or write programs. Instead, they draw a mechanical system on the computer screen, indicating joints and force elements.

The software generates the equations of motion automatically and produces an animated display showing acceleration, speed, angles and loads on the system during the motion. The system can handle non-linear effects and large displacements for parts of the mechanical system.
