A shake-up for vibratory feeder monitoring

REO has developed a system for monitoring vibratory feeders to prevent problems such as conveyors destroying themselves through excessive, out-of-balance movements. The Reovib monitor measures and displays amplitude, speed and frequency values and can trigger an alarm if preset limits are exceeded.

The feeder movement is measured using an accelerometer that allows deflection values to be compared with chosen maximum and minimum values. If either limit is breached, a programmable tine delay starts. If the delay expires, a relay is energised and can trigger a PLC to shut the system down. The system can be reset using a keypad or a reset input. The measured values can be shown on a five-character display or transmitted using a 0/4-20mA output.
