Radio emergency-stop is worn on your belt

A French company is offering an emergency control system based on a radio transmitter worn on the operator`s belt, and a stationary receiver. Pressing a central button on the transmitter can produce a stop command within 200ms while other buttons can be used to choose one of three speeds or to send other commands.

The Urgrad system, from the electronics designer Leas, incorporates redundant circuitry to ensure that transmissions are secure. The battery-powered transmitter weighs less than 900g and operates on two frequencies - 224.7 and 433.9 MHz.
