Is this the smallest soft-starter?

Siemens claims to have developed the world`s smallest three-phase soft-starter. The 22mm-wide device can soft-start and stop motors rated up to 1.1kW.

Siemens expects the main applications to be in mechanical-handling systems where high starting torques produced by DOL (direct on-line) starters can reduce the lives of components such as belts, chains and gearboxes. By connecting the new soft-start in series with the motor, users can adjust the starting torque to suit the application.

Similarly, the soft-stop function can be used to extend the stopping time of high-friction, low-inertia applications such as bottling lines, where sudden stops can damage components and products.

The soft-starter can adapt to any single-phase AC or DC voltage from 24-240V or three-phase input from 200-400V.
