Distributed servo drives allow rapid changes

At the recent SPS/IPC/Drives show in Nuremberg, Germany, Lenze unveiled a distributed, low-voltage servo technology. The Fluxtorque range consists of synchronous servo motors with integrated inverters, and is aimed at applications such as packaging, where it will allow limit stops to be adjusted quickly and precisely when a product is changed.

The range consists of motors rated at up to 500W, with operating voltages from 24-325V DC, or 230V AC. The drives are ready for use after immediately plugging in the power supply and the Profibus or CANbus communications interfaces.

Lenze says that the ability to mount the correctly rated servo drive in a distributed arrangement will reduce wiring and allow for smaller control cabinets and smaller machines, requiring less space on the production floor.

The servo system is available in IP54 versions for mounting on machines, or IP00 for space-saving installation in control cabinets.
