Easy-to-program controller is Atex-approved

Suffolk-based Amot has introduced an Atex-approved controller said to combine the power of a PLC with the ease-of-use of an embedded controller. Called the TomaHawk 8635A, the controller is programmed using a technique that allows custom and pre-programmed applications to be combined for specific duties.

A Windows configuration tool is said to allow powerful programs to be constructed far quicker than a conventional PLC. The software includes functions such as a tachometer with multiple speed settings, runtime meters, and alarm and shutdown setpoints.

The controller has 120 I/O points, two Modbus ports, and a four-line, 80-character, backlit display. It is CSA and Atex-approved for Class 1, groups C and D, division II environments.
