Plastic leadscrew modules make their debut

Igus claims to have developed the first leadscrew module to use plastics for the slides, endblocks, bearings and nuts. It claims that the resulting module (shown below) is light yet sturdy, corrosion-free, and dirt-resistant.

The module`s shafts are made from a lightweight aluminium and come in 6mm or 12mm diameters. Igus expects the devices to be used for applications such as adjusting sensors, light barriers and guide rails, especially in restricted spaces.

The modules are formed from a lubrication- and maintenance-free sliding bearing material with low friction and wear.
