Lasers simplify shaft alignments

Emerson Process management has added a shaft alignment capability, using wireless laser fixtures, to its CSI 2130 machinery health analyser. As two shafts come into alignment, the instrument`s colour-coded display changes from red to yellow, making alignment quicker and easier than before, according to Emerson.

The company claims that the CSI 2130 now offers the most complete set of facilities for fast, accurate assessment of the condition of rotating machinery. These facilities include motor monitoring, dynamic balancing, transient analysis, and single- and dual channel vibration analysis.

The handheld instrument incorporates a high-resolution, backlit colour display which provides colour-coded reports that present complex machinery data in an easy-to-understand format. The collected data can be uploaded to Emerson`s Machinery Health Manager software for analysis, trending and reporting.
