The engineering components distributor, Industria Engineering Products, has been placed in administration. The company, founded in 1952, has headquarters in Uxbridge and eight UK branches. Its turnover is around £6m. The administrator, Menzies Corporate Restructuring, is hoping to sell the business as a going concern.

The US motors, drives and controls specialist Intelligent Motion Systems, has set up a UK operation, based in Fareham, Hampshire, with Mark Checkley as UK sales manager. Checkley, who previously worked for Oriental Motor and Portescap, hopes to establish IMS UK as a leader in the fields of integrated motors, and stepper drives and controls.

Two new exhibitions, targeting the UK engineering and electronics sectors, will be held for the first time next September at the Sandown Exhibition Centre. The shows, with the joint title of Industry Live 2007, are being organised by a team including members previously involved in shows such as Manufacturing Week, Total Solutions and Southern Electronics.
