Safety controls need no cabinet

Sick claims to have developed the world`s first distributed safety system that can be installed near an application without needing a control cabinet. Its IP67-protected UE44x7 safety remote control modules allow standard, as well as safety, signals to be exchanged with higher controllers using the DeviceNet Safety protocol.

The remote devices incorporate a "fast shutoff" function that results in a fixed reaction time of 8ms, no matter how many items are connected to a network.

Up to 32 of the certified modules can link safety sensors and actuators to create a decentralised safety installation. A "safety enable" function allows a standard PLC to control the modules` outputs directly, without needing a separate safety controller.
