HID seeks acquisition to boost UK presence

HID, Hitachi`s UK industrial products partner, is looking to buy an established business in the UK automation field. Part of the reason for doing so is to provide a new sales outlet for Hitachi products that have not been available in the UK before, such as servos and motors.

Stephen Scales, HID`s joint managing director, says the company is already in discussion with several potential takeover targets. He says he is looking for companies with both distribution channels and technical expertise. He adds that Hitachi "is supportive and aware of" HID`s plans for expansion.
