Norgren sets up shop on the Web

Norgren has become the first major supplier in the pneumatics industry to offer sales via the Internet. The company has set up a Web site that will allow customers order any item from its catalogue, and is guaranteeing that about 5,000 of these will be delivered the next day.

As well as placing orders, customers will be able to check prices and lead times, and follow the progress of orders. Existing customers need only enter their customer number to operate on pre-approved acounts; new customers will have to complete a registration form and will be able to pay by credit card.

The Web service will be supported by a synchronised network of Norgren branches and independent distributors. UK marketing manager Richard Pell predicts that it will "revolutionise the way our customers do business with us, and turn us into a real click-and-mortar operation".
