Hay Hall adds Huco and Bibby to its group

Hay Hall, the Birmingham-based specialist engineering group, has bought Huco Engineering and Bibby Transmissions from Chargeready Holdings to boost its involvement in the fields of torque limiters and grid and disc couplings.

Hay Hall deputy chairman Tony Rodger says the move will secure the jobs of more than 250 people and boost the group`s turnover by £15m to more than £50m. "We are now planning further growth so that we can secure and enhance our global position in the industrial motion control sector," he adds.

Privately-owned Hay Hall was formed in 1996 by an institutional buyout from the TI Group. Its businesses include Matrix International in Scotland, and Inertia Dynamics in the US. It recently acquired Twiflex from Tomkins PLC.

Huco produces couplings and torque limiters for use in light engineering while Bibby, and a South African operation Bibby Turboflex, make similar products for applications such as gas turbines. Their former owner, Chargeready, was formed by a buyout from the Wellman group.
