Dowding & Mills regroups under one name

The Dowding & Mills group of companies is merging its electrical and mechanical divisions to form a single engineering services division in the UK. The aim, says the company, is to simplify communications and to provide customers with a single point of contact.

In future, all branches will trade as Dowding & Mills, leading to the disappearance of some familiar names, such as Bootham Engineers. Derrick Arden has been appointed managing director of the UK branch network.

Specialised services previously provided by operations including RW Gear, Banner Gear and Vacuum Pump Services, will remain at the same locations but will operate under the D&M brand.

Dowding & Mills` chief executive Martyn Hapgood says that "as our customers` needs have changed, it has been necessary to adapt our structure to serve their requirements more efficiently". He adds that the reorganised operation, with its combined sales force, uniform name and regionalisation of accounts, "will integrate our services more fully".
