Managers buy Deritend from Lee Beesley

Managers at the motor rewind and repair specialist Deritend are buying the operation from Lee Beesley and its ultimate parent, the French engineering group, GTIE. The sell-off is in line with GTIE`s policy of focusing on its core businesses of IT communications, process automation and energy.

The spun-off business, called the Deritend Group, will continue to repair and maintain rotating machines, from servo motors to aerospace equipment, including machine tools, induction equipment and HV coils.

Deritend, which has six service and repair centres, has recently entered a partnership with Siemens Automation & Drives under which it will stock energy-efficient motors and spares. One aim of the partnership is to exploit the opportunities offered by the proposed Climate Change Levy and its associated Enhanced Capital Allowances scheme.

Lee Beesley, which provides engineering, installation and maintenance services, remains part of GTIE and has embarked on a strategy of organic growth and acquisitions, the most recent of which was the systems engineer, Cheshire Systems. Over the past two years, Lee Beesley has recorded a year-on-year growth rate of 15%.
