Renold combines three machine tool businesses

Renold is combining three of its machine tool businesses under a single management team and the name Renold Precision Industries. The three operations, with a combined turnover of around £45m, are Holroyd (which specialises in helical form technology), Jones & Shipman International (abrasive machine tool technology) and US-based Edgetek (super-abrasive machining systems).

Renold says that the move will create "a truly global player" with facilities in the UK, the US, Europe, Russia and Japan. It adds that the combined operation will be able to target all of its resources at specific markets and areas of technology.

Renold director Dr Ronnie Kershaw is managing director of the new operation. He predicts that it will be "a real force in the world of advanced technology machine tools". Other members of the "clearly-defined and specialised management team" are Jones & Shipman MD Alan Spears, who becomes sales director, Holroyd MD Tony Daniels, who is manufacturing director, and Dr Tony Bannan, who is engineering director.
