CT transfers Luton and Leeds operations to Telford

Control Techniques is closing its Leeds and Luton Drives Centres and transferring their operations to its Telford centre. The company says that moving the systems business alongside the existing modules operation at Telford "will complete its UK Drive Centre re-organisation plan".

CT expects "a significant number" of staff from Leeds and Luton to relocate to Telford, but adds that that there will be "a small, planned reduction of employees". Last year, CT focused its commercial and support activities for AC and DC drives and servo modules on Telford, which is now its drive module sales and support "hub". The company says that the single contact telephone number and centralised service organisation "has proved to be very popular with our UK customers".

CT has made "considerable investments" in IT facilities at the Telford centre to make it easier to place and handle orders using either traditional or electronic routes. Under the latest changes, the system engineering, building, application and technical support services will be brought under one roof to make full use of the improved facilities.

Control Techniques` local sales team network remains unchanged.

• Control Techniques Dynamics hopes to boost its penetration of the US servomotor market following the granting of UL certification for the insulation system used in its Unimotor range of AC brushless servomotors.
