♦  Siemens Industry Automation & Drive Technologies is extending its low-voltage motor scrappage scheme until 31 March 2012. Launched in August 2011, the scheme eases the costs of the EU MEPS (European Minimum Energy Performance Standard) legislation, which came into force in June 2011. It allows buyers to claim a fixed allowance against any LV motor from any manufacturer if they buy a new Siemens IE2 motor. A Siemens partner collects the scrap motor.

♦  Alltorq, the Peterborough clutch, brake and motion control specialist, has been appointed European agent for US-based PT Tech, which designs and manufactures heavy-duty specialised clutches, brakes and torque limiters. Alltorq has also been appointed an authorised distributor for the Italian manufacturer Coremo Ocmea’s range of pneumatic, hydraulic, electromagnetic and mechanical caliper and friction clutches and brakes.

♦  Olsen Engineering has expanded its operations by taking on additional facilities at the Daresbury Science and Innovation Centre in Warrington. This will give easy access to its clients in the North West and allows Olsen to collaborate with the 100 technology companies located on the site.
